Local Candy Shop Infuses Lollipops With Hops

Posted: Updated:
SELAH, WA.- Everyone loves candy, but what if candy enthusiasts and beer lovers had something they both could enjoy?

After a long day at work imagine instead of enjoying a pint of beer you have a fist full of candy, one Selah business is trying something new, infusing their candy with locally grown hops.

They're calling them Lollihops and Heather Hadsel, owner of the start up, Yakima Hops Candy is the first in the Yakima Valley to infuse hops with these sweet treats.

Hadsel makes these Lollihops in 12 different flavors. She's sold around 3,000 so far and her business keeps growing, she's already gotten orders from beer shops as far away as Massachusetts.

“We just got Tennessee, a beer shop in Tennessee the other day, and we're in three places in Virginia and Massachusetts. We have a little board out there that we pin each state once we find a new state to sell Lollihops to,” Hadsel explained.

Hadsel started selling the candies to businesses across the Yakima Valley back in December.

She doesn't currently have a store she sells out of, so if you want to try out some of her candies, you'll have to check out local beer shops selling her products.
