RICHLAND, WA- WSU Tri-Cities hosted a lecture that compared Washington and Colorado's policies after the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Marijuana continues to be a growing topic around the nation, especially after more states have decided to legalize it.

WSU Tri-Cities had Professor Nicholas Lovrich from WSU Pullman speak to the public about differences in Washington and Colorado's marijuana policies, how laws changed because of its legalization, and how the impact could possibly shape what the rest of the country does.

"The goal is to describe how Washington's law is setup, to learn from the process because no one really knew what would happen once you had recreational marijuana," said Prof. Lovrich.

Washington and Colorado are considered model states for the legalization.  The group also discussed how legalization has affected the black market.

After the lecture, there was a question and answer session and a discussion about what the region could see in the future.
