Man Arrested on Suspicion of Starting 40 Acre Othello Fire

UPDATE:

OTHELLO, WA- A 33-year-old Othello man is sitting behind bars after he was arrested on suspicion of starting a large 40 acre wildfire on Tuesday night.

Witnesses told police they saw Tynan Hollan set the fire on purpose. Hollan will face first degree arson charges but for now he will be sitting in Ritzville's Adams County Jail on a $30,000.00 bail. Hollan is expected to show up in court on Tuesday to be formally charged.

OTHELLO, Wash. - The Adams County Fire Department says a fire that was burning south of Othello Tuesday night is under control.

The fire department says firefighters were able to put out the flames before they touched any nearby homes or businesses. Early Wednesday morning crews continued mopping up.

Crews believe the fire burned about 40 acres of land near Cunningham Road. 

Sheriff Deputies are now investigating the cause of the fire.

The Adams County Fire Department says it's mostly cattails burning off of Cunningham Road. 

Firefighters are on scene doing structure protection. 

No word how the fire started or exactly how big it is.
