Amistad Elementary Kindergarten Teacher Wins Classroom Makeover

Posted: Updated:
KENNEWICK, WA - The school year is quickly coming to a close, which is why we stopped by Amistad Elementary school in Kennewick on Monday morning for our final classroom makeover of the school year.

We dropped by Sheryl Chase's bilingual kindergarten class to surprise her with a $250 check from Kadlec.  Mrs. Chase has been a teacher in the Tri-Cities for more than 20 years, and has spent more than a decade at Amistad working with these young kids in spanish and english.

"I enjoy teaching reading and I enjoy teaching writing.  It's exciting to me to know that I can make a difference in the lives of children and their families.  I'm teaching parents as well as children," said Chase.

Over the years, Mrs. Chase has spent hundreds of dollars of her own money on supplies for her classroom.  She's planning to use this cash on something special for her students next fall.
