Domino's, NFPA & West Valley Fire Team Up to Promote Fire Safety; Free Pizza on the Line

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA - If you place an order for Domino's pizza today and a fire crew shows up to make the delivery, don't be alarmed. But do check your smoke alarms. Your order may be free if your alarms are working properly. And if they're not, the firefighters will replace the batteries for you.

This is all part of National Fire Prevention Week and it's the second year Yakima Domino's, the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) and the West Valley Fire Department are teaming up to promote fire safety in Yakima.

"The fire prevention association has a long history of trying to encourage customers to find ways to keep their homes safe. With the West Valley Fire Department, they've had an opportunity to get a little more exposure," said Domino's Franchise Owner, Jeffrey Smith.

This year's fire prevention week campaign theme is "Hear the Beep Where You Sleep: Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm."  Besides raising awareness of the need for smoke alarms, Smith says the customer's reaction to the fire truck is priceless.

"It's awesome to see a fire truck roll up to your house with pizza in it," said Smith.

Customers can call Yakima Domino's at 509-965-1500 to place their order and be eligible for the fire engine delivery between 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
