COWICHE, WA.- A Cowiche man could face felony charges after Yakima County Sheriff's Deputies found hundreds of pot plants on his property  this week.

Monday afternoon Sheriff's Deputies and other local law enforcement arrested a 42 year old man from Cowiche.

They found around 250 marijuana plants that they believe he was illegally growing and trying to sell. YSO Deputies, along with a task force made up of law enforcement from throughout the county, spotted marijuana plants along the 10000 Block of Cowiche Mill Road.

The Sheriff's Office told us the suspect did tell them he was growing the plants for medical use, however he did not have the proper paper work and the legal amount for medical use only allows for 15 plants, he had 244 plants.

While speaking with the sheriff's office, they did tell us that legalized marijuana has made their jobs more difficult at times.

"The changes in the marijuana laws are creating some challenges for law enforcement and the public, it is very important for the citizens that get involved in this line of business, to keep in mind there are laws that they have to make sure they are following," YSO Detective Mike Russell explained.

The suspect was taken into custody on Monday, but he was released on $10,000 bail on Tuesday.
