PATERSON, WA- A Hermiston man died Saturday morning on SR 14 after a semi driver failed to yield and ran into his car. 

Troopers responded at 5:40 a.m. to the westbound lanes of SR 14 at milepost 175, about 10 miles east of Paterson. 

Throughout their investigation they learned the semi truck driver, 48-year-old Pablo Cancino of Hermiston, failed to yield while trying to enter the highway from 231 Private Road SE which is the entrance to Agri-Northwest. 

Cancino turned east and struck 69-year-old Alfredo Rivera and 64-year-old Manuela Rivera, killing Alfredo Rivera. 

Manuela Rivera was taken by life flight to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. Cancino was not injured in the crash.

Right now, troopers do not believe drugs or alcohol played a factor, however the cause was determined as failure to yield. Charges are currently pending.
