Gesa Carousel of Dreams Celebrates the One Year Anniversary

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA- Sunday marked the one year anniversary since the Gesa Carousel of Dreams had their grand opening. Monday we talked to some of the people who have been involved since day one.

Parker Hodge, the building manager, told us that in the past year they had 185,000 riders and made about $400,000 in revenue. When they first opened, they expected to have maybe a birthday party per weekend and now they have about six birthday parties as well as four corporate events a week.

Hodge told us he can't believe how much the business has taken off, "the interesting thing about our business is that we thought this would be a carousel with an event center attached to it and it's almost become an event center with a carousel attached".

Aside from their events and the riders, the carousel has also had families and businesses adopt the carousel horses as well as buy tiles on the floor. Hodge said that has helped a lot with the yearly revenue.

When we last talked with them, six months after it had opened they were hoping to be debt free by the one year anniversary. We asked how the debt looks and compared to the starting $354,000, they now only have $70,000 left to pay.

Their hope for the future of the carousel, to keep it interesting to the community by adding events and activities monthly. For more information on their special events and holidays visit their Facebook page
