Pasco Police Chief Asks City Council to Budget in More Officers

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, WA - The Pasco Police Chief Tuesday night asked the Pasco City Council for more staff.

Chief Bob Metzger says with the way the city is growing he just doesn't have enough officers to cover all the ground and in some cases all the calls that come in.

That's why he is asking the council to budget in some new officers including one street crimes unit, six patrol officers and four detectives.

He says getting these new officers this will get his department up to speed.

"We need it and we actually need more. But this is the basics, this will get us up to where I'm comfortable, and we can continue the kind of good services we are doing in our community," says Chief Metzger.

This was just the beginning of discussions between the council and the police chief about adding more staff to the department.

The city council still needs to go over the budget before making any decisions.
