KENNEWICK, WA - The Kennewick Fire Department broke ground on a new fire station  at the corner of 10th Avenue and Kellogg street Tuesday, October 13th, 2015.

Crews say the the new station will help response times in this growing part of south-western Kennewick.

The fire station will have one story with a three or four truck garage, and a living  area for up to six fire fighters.

This new station is going up in a residential area but the Fire Chief Vince Beasley says there is no need for noise concerns.

"We're going to be conscious of the neighbors. The thing I met with several of the neighbors and my motto is we want to be good neighbors. So at two in the morning traffic is minimal. There's no reason to come out of the station with air horns blaring and sirens going. We will be aware of them and use it when we need to obviously to avoid accidents but for the most part we'll be respectful." said Chief Beasley.

Beasley will promote three new captains for fire station 5 and hopes the new station will  be finished in nine to ten months.
