YAKIMA, Wash. -

The weather may still be on the warm side but flu season is just around the corner.

We talked to the Yakima health district about what to expect this year.

They say although there may not be many cases of the flu right now, it does take about two weeks for a flu shot to kick in.. So now is the time to get the shot.. Especially ahead of the holiday travel season.

"So we encourage people to get their flu shot now and not wait until an event. If you're traveling or having a family gathering, we encourage you to have that. Anyone over six months of age is encouraged to get a flu shot so that means mom, dad and all the kids." says Diane Bock of the Yakima Heath District.

With Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years just around the corner its more important than ever to get your shot from your local health care provider.
