PASCO, WA -  Columbia Basin College held it's 6th Annual Student Safety Day Thursday, October 15th.

Students and staff enrolled in the campus emergency notification system to get texts and emails, if there's ever an emergency.

Most everyone felt strongly about maintaining clear communication if emergency events were ever to happen.

Organizers also gave them the campus safety number to store in their contact lists too..

Faculty member Frank Murray said "They need to know what to do in case of an emergency and for that we're very thankful for the technology like you said just about everybody has a cell phone now and to be able to contact them immediately with an Emergency Notification System can warn them well in advance."

While stopping at the pavilion on campus, students were rewarded with popcorn and candy bars after they put the security phone number in their phone.
"The notification system would let you know if in the worst case someone unauthorized were to be on campus and it can make a difference of a text alerting you to get off campus immediately and not wandering into possibly harm." said CBC Student Fernando Damborg.
