Bayer CropScience Donates 60 Tons of Potatoes to Local Hunger-Relief Organizations

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, WA- Friday morning Bayer CropScience delivered two semi-truckloads of potatoes, rounding out to about 60 tons of produce.

Bayer CropScience grew the potatoes on two acres on a local farm and the complete product was donated Friday morning. The delivery was at the Second Harvest location in Pasco and the potatoes will also be distributed to the Society of St. Andrew.

We talked with Nate Andersen who was there with Bayer CropScience and he told us, "at Bayer it's very important for us to give back to communities we work and live in and this is a great way for us to work with a local organization and help out other organizations in the entire state of Washington with our potatoes".

Jean Tucker who was there Friday morning with Second Harvest told us, "this is going a long way towards helping people get food where it's needed most".

Volunteers were there today to help collect the potatoes and organize them into smaller bins therefore allowing an easier preparation for the potatoes to be distributed locally.
