SELAH, WA- The Carve Out Hunger fundraising event with Northwest Harvest raised enough money to provide 69,000 meals for the hungry in Yakima...

On Saturday night, the Selah Civic Center was almost sold out. Our NBC Right Now news team led by Tracci Dial and Tim Adams won the pumpkin carving contest.

A Northwest Harvest spokesperson says, "The community really came together to help make this event successful."

SELAH, WA.- It's getting to that time of year when many of us search through our pantry for canned goods to donate to local charities, but this fall season there's more than one way you can help out.

The 2nd annual Carve Out Hunger event is going on Saturday night at the Selah Civic Center. The event, hosted by Northwest Harvest, brings together local breweries and restaurants to raise money for those less fortunate.

Last year they were able to raise enough money to provide 27,700 meals and they're hoping to double that number this year organizer Sherri Bissell told us, "My goal is to provide 50,000 meals. That's the goal in my head and I would love to be able to double it."

The event kicks off at the Selah Civic Center this evening at 6:30 and runs till 10 that evening. Tickets are $45 at the door and to put that in perspective just a purchase of one ticket will help them provide 200 meals.
