UNION GAP, WA- NBC Right Now has learned 66-year-old Leonard Shure was a Franklin County Correctional Officer.

Pasco Police posted on their Facebook page, "Here at Pasco PD, our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and coworkers of Sergeant Len Shure and his wife JoAn. Rest in peace, Len."

Shure and his wife, 71-year-old Joan Shure died after being hit in their car that was parked on the shoulder of Interstate 82 on Friday.

UNION GAP, WA - The Washington State Patrol is still investigating after two people were killed in a car accident on I-82 Friday, Oct. 23, 2015.

The accident happened just before two this afternoon near the Thorp and Parker road exit outside of union gap.

Troopers have identified them as 66-year-old Leonard Shure and 71-year-old Joan Shure.

39-year-old Brent Owens was driving an F-550 pickup truck when he crashed into their car that was parked on the shoulder, according to WSP release.

Owens was taken to Yakima Memorial for his injuries. No word on charges and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
