Filipino Community Hosts Annual Harvest Dinner in Wapato

WAPATO, WA - the Filipino community hall in Wapato hosted their annual harvest dinner. Guests from all over the Yakima valley were invited to enjoy traditional Filipino cuisine and enjoy native Filipino dancing...

But this years harvest dinner had a more significant purpose. With a decrease in numbers for asian and pacific islander voters, the Filipino community has taken to educating and raising awareness about the need for more Filipinos in Washington to vote...

A mix of voter apathy for immigrant families along with many voting Filipino names being lost in demographics for Hispanic voters have lead to a decline is Asian and pacific islander voting stats. The API coalition of Washington state will be hosting a series of ballot parties to raise voter awareness.

Dates and times for Ballot Parties are as follows

On October 28th from 5.30 to 7.30 pm, Alfredo Fontanilla and Dr. Robert Plumb will be hosting a civic engagement ballot party at 5010 Terrace Heights Dr. in Yakima.

On October 29th, the a senior Halloween ballot party will be held at the Filipino Community Hall in Wapato from 2 to 4 pm.

Also on October 29th, the Filipino Community Hall in Wapato will be hosting another civic ballot engagement party from 5.30 to 7.30 pm.

All three events will help people attending register to vote for the 2016 presidential elections.
