WAKE UP YOUR PET: Halloween Costumes and Safety Advice

Posted: Updated:

WAKE UP YOUR PET: Halloween is an exciting time for kids, adults and even pets.

Tuesday morning on Wake Up Northwest we spoke with Ame Parton, Pet Trainer at PetSmart about some of the pet costumes they offer.

Of course, not all pets like getting dressed up. She recommends getting them used to the costume for a couple minutes a day leading up to Halloween so they are more comfortable and more likely to keep it on.

There are also some safety concerns you should keep in mind though.

Remember things are different on Halloween. More people are walking around, the door bell doesn't stop ringing and of course there are scary costumes.

Even if your dog is usually great with kids, he may react differently to a kid in a costume.

It's recommended that you just leave the pups home and somewhere where they can't run out when the door opens.

When it comes to candy, just leave it out of reach, chocolate can be very dangerous to dogs.
