North Town Coffeehouse Introduces Yakima to "Coffee on Tap"

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA - North Town Coffeehouse is introducing Yakima to Cold Brew "Coffee on Tap," so we made our way over to the coffee shop to see how it works.

The coffee goes through a tap system and nitrogen tank. The nitrogen pushes the cold brew through the lines and out of the tap, similar to a draft beer. With this type of product, North Town tells us they hope to bring a coffee culture, similar to what you would find in bigger cities, like Portland and Seattle.

"There's a market for it and people want that here. Yakima is growing every year, it's getting bigger and bigger and people want that atmosphere here and we're trying to replicate that" said Alfonzo Arellano, North Town Barista.

The folks at North Town tell us people are really liking it.

"It's way more popular than we thought. We've always had cold brew, but nitro is the first thing we've been experimenting with. Everyone's curious about it, wants to try it," said Arellano.

A 12 oz. cup will cost you $4.50 and the barista points out you're getting more product for a cold brew, since there's no ice.

The supplier and pioneer of this product is Stumptown Coffee Roasters out of Oregon.

The texture of the coffee is very smooth and we found out it's also less acidic.
