American Institute of Architects Recognizes Cowiche Canyon in Yakima for Design, Craftsmanship

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA - Cowiche Canyon Kitchen and Ice House, a local favorite nestled at the corner of Yakima Ave. and 2nd Street, is being recognized by the American Institute of Architects.

The restaurant has earned an honor award for design from AIA and a craftsman award. We had a chance to sit down with the owner, Graham Snyder and he says in addition to the focus to detail, the experience you get at Cowiche truly sets them apart.

"We really want you to feel like you're at ground zero Yakima. I think that unlike other chain environments around us, where it's outside culture, everything about this is uniquely Yakima," said Snyder.

Cowiche Canyon was designed by Graham Baba Architects and built by VK Powell Construction. Snyder adds one of his inspirations for the design of Cowiche was the fruit warehouse, a symbol of the Yakima Valley. Cowiche uses local materials that "get better with time."
