KENNEWICK, WA- Officers warned drivers and trick-or-treaters to be careful during the nighttime hours for Halloween.

It will be raining, windy, and dark and Kennewick Police wants drivers to watch out for trick or treaters who will be out on the streets. The department suggests to driver slower and just being aware to avoid any unwanted tragedies Halloween night.

"It really is dangerous when you have these people walking around the streets.  Kids are excited.  They're excited to cross the street and go to the next house. You have to be very aware and just be careful," said Officer Shirrell Veitenheimer, Kennewick Police Department.

There are also things trick-or-treaters can do to protect themselves as well. Officers suggest they wear some type of reflection device, reflective tape, or using a light so others can better see them.
