YAKIMA, Wash. -

For 50 years, the white pass ski patrol has held their annual ski swap in Yakima to raise funds for first aid during their season... And while this year is no different, i spoke with a father and son who's passion for the ski patrol has kept them involved all these years...

Lee Huntsberger has a few years of experience as a ski patroller...

"54... this will be 54 this year..."

After 54 years, he's passionate *as ever* about his job... A passion that resonates with all of the other members of the White Pass ski patrol.

"it's a great group of guys who work really hard up there and we're always helping the public. A lot of people look to us for many many different needs on the hill." says Huntsberger

For them, this marks the patrols 50th annual ski swap. A fundraiser that allows skiers, snowboarders and vendors alike to buy and sell their equipment.

"they'll have new gear or maybe a year or two old. Never used. Never mounted. Then we've got a lot of public gear from these people here in the Yakima valley that are looking fore something new and sell what they've got and make an upgrade" says fund raising coordinator ken lust

Every year all of the proceeds go towards first aid equipment. they're also looking to build a newer, more accessible first aid station in the white pass area.

"it basically funds all of our equipment all year long... we buy our own toboggans, radios, all this sort of business. It becomes quite expensive. Our annual budget is about 20,000 dollars" says white pass ski patroller Les Hodgekiss

The commradery of patrollers is something that keeps lee close to the job so much so, that his son, Andy is apart of it as well

"I've always been involved in some way shape or form with the ski patrol. It's always a good group of people and a great organization to be apart of." says the younger Huntsberger.

The white pass ski patrol is looking to raise about 500 grand this year. If you're looking to help and grab a good deal on ski equipment, the ski swap will be open until 3 tomorrow.
