Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA- It has been over a year since three people were found shot to death in a field south of Kennewick. Francisco Resendez Miranda, the man facing the life in prison for the murders, appeared in Benton County Superior Court Monday.

The first day of trial was just the preliminary phases. They handed out questionnaires to help narrow down the jury. 24-year-old Resendez Miranda was in the courtroom as Judge Spanner asked the defense attorney and the prosecutor to narrow down the list of jurors. They cut the list down to 82 people.

The questionnaire asked about any health issues, previous knowledge of the case and scheduled vacation time.

Tuesday morning the first 13 remaining jurors will be back in court for individual questioning at 9:00 a.m. and the second group of 13 will be questioned at 10:30 a.m.
