KENNEWICK, WA- Solicitors may be easier to get rid of over the phone, but when they come right to your door it might not be so easy.

NBC Right Now did a little digging after several people told us they were approached by a TV provider sales-person and did not know if it was legit.

Locally, Genesis Satellite does have people going door to door, so does Charter, and Frontier Communications will eventually.

Columbia Basin Satellite does not have any sales people coming to your door, and Dish or Direct TV usually just send offers through the mail.

NBC Right Now spoke with one Kennewick woman who told us a man approached her door in the middle of the day, he did not have identification and wanted to go inside. "My father in law was there so I allowed him in the first time to come see my receivers and talk with me about the equipment. But, the second time when he told me he needed to go in to get his bag, and I saw his bag in my front yard, I said, 'no'. That was a little alarming to me," explained Elycia Brockman.

Local police officers say the best thing to do is use common sense, ask for ID, a name tag, business card or even to see their business license.

If you are alone or do not plan on buying service, never let them inside. If you want a to take up the deal, but you are not sure if it is real, re-schedule a time for them to come by another time. Then, get in touch with the business to verify the employee's name.
