Prepare your vehicle for winter Prepare your vehicle for winter

KENNEWICK, WA - With the winter season here there's a few things you need to do to make sure your vehicle is prepared for the colder temperatures.

Check your tires to make sure the tread isn't too worn and that the air pressure levels are where they need to be. Test your battery to see if it's going bad, check that your windshield wipers are still working and make sure your oil is clean. With temperatures below freezing you also want to make sure checking your antifreeze is at the top of your to-do list.

"You should check your antifreeze every couple years to test it and for replacement I recommend every three years to replace... It doesn't matter if it's 5 years old or a 15 year old vehicle the antifreeze is supposed to be checked every couple of years," Mirko Micic, USA Brake & Auto Repair.

Micic says putting simple maintenance off could leave you with worse problems like damaging your engine. He says it's better to take it in early and make sure you're ready for winter.
