SPOKANE, Wash. -  Protesters stood on street corners in Seattle, Yakima, Olympia, Spokane and nearly 270 other cities across the country to rally for better living wages Tuesday.

Some protests started at fast food restaurants and marched to local city halls.

The strikes were planned one year before the election to demand that local officials fight for a $15/hour minimum wage and union rights.

The protesters say they plan to take their fight for a living wage to the ballot box.
