Community Reaches Out to Help 86-Year-Old Woman Kidnapped Last Week

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA- It has been just over a week since Hazel Abel returned home after being kidnapped out of her home, put into the trunk of her car and driven hundreds of miles away. After hearing her story, many members of the community have wondered what they can do to help.

One man, Doug Welch, has talked with some local businesses who want to help Hazel get back to her normal life and enjoy the holidays. After reaching out to us, we introduced him to Hazel so he could go over his plans with her.

He told us, "Ranch and Home is going to supply her with dog food and we're going to get her some treats for her puppy" and that is just the start of it. His neighbor wants to give her a haircut, do her nails and Senske wants to help decorate her home for the holidays.

Hazel was thrilled after hearing the community is thinking about her and is sending love her way. Welch told us, "it's the season, but the season should be everyday, 365 days a year, the Tri-Cities they slow down enough to think of others".
