YAKIMA, WA.- Sheriff's Deputies found a woman with three gunshot wounds to the head near Selah Wednesday. That marks the 20th murder in Yakima County this year.

Friday we spoke with the Sheriff's Office, they have a man in custody, but they have not formally charged him  with murder they only arrested him on the charges of unlawful possession of a firearm.

According to court documents Deputies arrested 56 year old Carlos Navarros, he's Normal Emmerson's ex-boyfriend and Deputies tell us the couple did have a history of domestic violence.

Narvarro's appeared in court on Thursday, his bail is currently set at $100,000, but the Sheriff's Office told us they don't have enough evidence yet to move forward with murder charges, they're still searching for a possible motive and questioning the other people found at the Red Apple Motel on Wednesday.

"We're working on establishing a motive, that's part of any good investigation, but we're not at a point where we can say that person or that person committed the crime. we're looking at multiple people to see who might have been there and who played what roles," Detective Mike Russell explained.

Emmerson's body was found this past Wednesday on Sage Trail Road just East of Selah, Deputies told us on Friday broken glass from a car window led them to the Red Apple Motel where they found Navarro's car with a broken window.

They searched a room at the Red Apple Motel where he was staying and they found several firearms. The Sheriff's Office says they still have a ways to go in their investigation and they're not ruling anything out.

Previous- The autopsy confirmed that the victim suffered three gunshot wounds to the head.

Investigators have not arrested anyone for the murder.

However deputies have arrested a 56-year-old man from at the Red Apple in Yakima for unlawful possession of a firearm and that firearm will be examined along with several other recovered guns that may linked to this case, according to The Yakima County Sheriff's office.

YAKIMA, WA - We're learning more about a homicide investigation after someone found a woman dead on a trail between Yakima and Selah, early Wednesday morning.

Around 6:30 a.m. a man found a woman's body with injuries to her head about a mile up Sage Trail Road just east of Selah.

Sheriff's Deputies arrived and identified her as 54 year old Norma Emmerson.

Deputies say they then started looking for friends of the victim and around noon found a suspicious car at the Red Apple Motel in Yakima.

They say the car belongs to a close friend of Emmerson.

Deputies say they found several people inside one of the motel rooms and are now interviewing them.

They also found evidence in both the hotel room and car.

"The vehicle has since been taken away and several people staying here at the motel have been detained, and are being interviewed by investigators so see what they may know about this," says Detective Mike Russell, Yakima County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies were unable to tell us if the people they're questioning had any past criminal history or what a possible motive could be at this time, but they told us finding the car was a great break in the case.
