High Wind Warning in Effect, DOT Warning Drivers to be Careful

NBCRightNow.com - The Oregon Department of Transportation is warning drivers of high winds in sections of northeastern Oregon as well as eastern Washington. The National Weather Service has a High Wind Warning in effect.

ODOT says drivers should be ready for strong gusts, especially those driving motor homes, travel trailers or commercial trucks.

They are also advising drivers to be ready for delays caused by downed trees and watch for blowing debris and dust.

The main counties impacted are Crook, Deschutes, Gilliam, Jefferson, Morrow, Sherman, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, Wasco, Wheeler, Benton, Columbia, Franklin, Kittitas, Klickitat, Walla Walla, and Yakima.

The National Weather Service says winds and gusts should increase throughout the day with the strongest winds in the late afternoon or evening.
