TRI-CITIES, WA - A company in the Tri-Cities that makes medical implants and instruments has been awarded the Afghan Medal of Honor.

During last week's sign conference in Afghanistan the CEO along with the president and founder of SIGN were honored to meet President Ghani as well as ministers in his cabinet.

SIGN received the Afghan Medal of Honor for their work treating patients while in Afghanistan and getting doctors from all over the area at a conference to teach them how to use surgical implants and techniques for trauma care.

Dr. Lewis Zirkle talked about their experience, the medal and the conference, saying "I received this on behalf of the SIGN's surgeons around the world. We're really a big family of 5,000 people who work together with the staff here at SIGN. All are very devoted to our mission of providing the implants and education."

The CEO of sign Jeanne Dillner also got the same Afghan Medal of Honor for their work.

She says everyone involved in sign help heal thousands of people worldwide every year.
