UPDATE: The Stage Two Burn Ban has been downgraded to a Stage One by the YRCAA Air Pollution Control Officer for Yakima County areas effective Wednesday November 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. until further notice.  ?

During a Stage 1 Burn Ban:
1. All Outdoor Burning, including Agricultural burning, is prohibited;
2. The use of any fireplace, wood stove or fireplace insert is prohibited, unless it is a certified heating device or the only source of heat; and 
3. All violations of the burn ban are subject to civil penalty.

UPDATE: YRCAA Air Pollution Control Officer has upgraded Yakima County's burn ban to stage two.

The ban is effective as of Monday November 23, 2015 at 9:45 a.m. until further notice, according to the YRCAA 

During a Stage 2 Burn Ban:

  1. All Outdoor Burning, including Agricultural burning, is prohibited;
  2. The use of any fireplace, wood stove or fireplace insert is prohibited, unless it is the only source of heat; and
  3. All violations of the burn ban are subject to civil penalty.

YAKIMA COUNTY, WA - The Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency (YRCAA) Air Pollution Control Officer has declared A Stage One Burn Ban for both the Upper and Lower Yakima County areas.

The ban is effective as of Friday November 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. until further notice, according to the YRCAA.  

This burn ban has been called due to inversion, minimal dispersion and expected poor ventilation. 

Air quality can change rapidly; please keep watching and we will update the situation as necessary.

Note:  Restrictions may differ within the exterior boundaries of the Yakama Reservation.
