UPDATE: One Suspect Arrested in Kennewick Strong Armed Robbery

KENNEWICK, WA- Kennewick Police have arrested 25-year-old Oscar Rivera in connection with Saturday night's "strong armed robbery" outside of La Placita Mexican Restaurant.

The suspect car was found in Pasco. Rivera is sitting in the Benton County Jail on first degree robbery charges.

Police are still actively looking for a second suspect in the case.


KENNEWICK, WA- Kennewick Police officers said two Hispanic men punched a man standing outside of La Placita Mexican Restaurant and took his phone and wallet Saturday night.

Saturday, shortly before midnight, Kennewick Police officers were called out to La Placita Mexican Restaurant for a strong armed robbery.  A man outside the restaurant checked his cell phone and two men approached him.  The suspect grabbed the man and threw him against a vehicle and punched him multiple times in the face. The two men took the victim's cell phone and wallet and took off.

The victim went back inside to tell staff what happened.  Officers said the two suspects left in a gold 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora with Washington license AUL 3854. The victim was treated at the scene by the Kennewick Fire Department and released.

Both suspects are described as Hispanic.  Police said one is around 25 years old, stocky build, and wearing a stocking cap and dark colored coat.  The other suspect is between 25-30 years old, stocky build, and has a short mustache and beard.
