Kennewick Police Arrest Step-Dad on Suspicion of Child Abuse of Baby

KENNEWICK, WA - Kennewick Police arrested a Kennewick man Sunday on suspicion of child abuse.

Officers responded to the Kadlec Emergency room on 19th Ave. in Kennewick Sunday. They say Kelcee Taggart took her two month old son to the ER because he would not stop crying.

Doctors checked the baby and found he was suffering from acute subdural hematoma, a blood condition outside the brain, as well as fractures to his ribs, arms and legs that were healing.

Officers say the injuries were consistent with abuse.

Medics flew the boy to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for treatment. Officers say doctors expect him to make a full recovery.

Following the response, KPD spoke with with Zak Wilding, Kelcee's husband and step-father to the child at his home on W. 10th Ave. in Kennewick.

Deputies booked him into the Benton County Jail for suspicion of Assault of a Child in the 2nd degree.
