YSO Deputy Placed on Administrative Leave During Domestic Violence Investigation

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA.-  Yakima County Sheriff's Deputy is on paid administrative leave after a fight between him and his wife led to harassment charges.

The Yakima Sheriff's Office put 51 year old Deputy Robert Locati on administrative leave last week after his estranged wife filed charges alleging domestic violence.

Deputy Locati lives in Zillah, so the Zillah Police Department is handling the investigation. According to their police reports, Deputy Locati attempted to break into his wife's home on November 9th.

Deputy Locati has worked with the Yakima Sheriff's Office for twelve years. We sat down with them on Monday and the Sheriff's Office told us they were surprised by the allegations.

These type of cases are unexpected, but when these cases come up we spring into action, because there are a lot of things we have to do," YSO Chief Civil Deputy Robert Udell told us.

The Zillah Police Department will be handling the investigation, however the Sheriff's Office says they will begin an internal investigation as well.

The deputies weapons were taken away while they investigate. Locati is set to appear in the Zillah Municipal Court on December 9th.
