Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA - Kennewick Police officers responded to 2606 W. 6th Ave. in Kennewick for a vehicle theft at 4:07 a.m. Thursday morning.

Police say William Garretson reported hearing his truck start up; he went outside to see a man driving his truck down the street. Officers found the truck near 10th Ave. & Vancouver St. but the suspect did not stop, leading to a car chase.

The chase led to Richland where an officer was able to use his stop sticks which flattened two of the stolen truck's tires.

Richland Police then took the lead. Eventually the stolen vehicle came back into Kennewick and drove through Columbia Park. The suspect entered Highway 240 where it lost control and went into a ditch. The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Todd M. Irving.

Irving has been booked into the Benton County Jail for vehicle theft, felony eluding of a police vehicle and an outstanding arrest warrant.
