American Legion in Pasco Hosts Thanksgiving Dinner

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, WA- For about eight years the American Legion has been serving Thanksgiving dinner for veterans and their families. Volunteers prepared by cooking and decorating for two days.

We talked with Rosealee Irwin who has been volunteering with her husband and helps to organize the dinner. She told us, "this is one of those things that does our heart good we just love it, we love the people, we love what it stands for and everything else". The Irwins come down from Alaska to dedicate their holidays to volunteering for the veterans and the families.

The Pasco Post Commander Joe Winters told us the veterans appreciate the dinner because, "it builds more camaraderie within the veteran community and it also allows them to see there's another place to go they can call home".

The American Legion expects close to 500 diners on Thanksgiving day and the food is donated by businesses and also made by volunteers.
