KENNEWICK, WA-  The Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership is hosting the 3rd Annual Centennial Flag Plaza Skating Rink for the season in Downtown Kennewick.

The rink is at the corner of Benton and Kennewick Avenue. Saturday was the opening day for the synthetic ice rink.  It was also a way to bring more people downtown and let them see some of the local stores there.  The owner of Roxy's Theatre Antiques, Ann Steiger, said downtown is growing and having the rink there will allow people to see what all downtown has to offer.

"It brings an awareness to our downtown that we're a pretty cool place.  You can do your entire Christmas shopping and Christmas activities and fun things with kids in the downtown area," said Steiger.

The downtown rink is open every Saturday and Sunday until the weekend after Christmas.  Skating sessions are 11 a.m.-1 p.m., 3 p.m.-5 p.m., and 6 p.m.-8 p.m.  The cost is $2 with your own skates and if you need a pair, it is $4.
