YAKIMA COUNTY, WA - Here's the latest burn ban information from the Yakima Co. Clean Air Agency:

 BURN BAN UPGRADED TO STAGE 2

A Stage 2 Burn Ban has been declared by the YRCAA Air Pollution Control Officer for both the Upper and Lower Yakima County areas effective Tuesday December 22, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. until further notice.  This burn ban has been called due to inversion, very poor dispersion and ventilation. 

  During a Stage 2 Burn Ban:

  1. All Outdoor Burning, including Agricultural burning, is prohibited;
  2. The use of any fireplace, wood stove or fireplace insert is prohibited, unless it is the only source of heat; and
  3. All violations of the burn ban are subject to civil penalty.

A STAGE 1 BURN BAN DECLARED

A Stage 1 Burn Ban has been declared by the YRCAA Air Pollution Control Officer for both the Upper and Lower Yakima County areas effective Tuesday December 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. until further notice.  This burn ban has been called due to inversion, minimal dispersion and expected poor ventilation.

 During a Stage 1 Burn Ban:

  1. All Outdoor Burning, including Agricultural burning, is prohibited;

  2. The use of any fireplace, wood stove or fireplace insert is prohibited, unless it is a certified heating device or the only source of heat; and

  3. All violations of the burn ban are subject to civil penalty.

    KENNEWICK: Good news for all of you bargain shoppers out there, Goodwill is opening a brand new store in Kennewick sometime next year. Thanks to a 3.1 million dollar loan and lots of planning, a very large patch of dirt will be home to a 20,000 square foot Goodwill; half warehouse and processing, half retail. The Kennewick store will be closing, however. You can still say, out with your old couches, TV's and clothing, and *into someone else's hands, just at a different location. ...More >>
