TRI-CITIES, WA- Extra patrols will be out for the holidays to watch for impaired driving during the holidays.

Friday, local law enforcement agencies gathered for the 25th Annual Night of a 1,000 Stars.  It was a remembrance event that honors lives that have been lost due to impaired driving.

Officers said there will be extra patrols out starting Saturday.

"Just don't take that chance.  Have a plan.  Don't wait until you've gone out with your friends to figure out now who's going to drive, have a plan ahead of time, not who's drank the least, but who's drank none," said Sgt. Ken Lattin, from the Kennewick Police Department.

In the past eight years, 58 people have been killed in Benton and Franklin Counties because of impaired driving.
