Richland School District Holds First Stuff the Bus

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, WA- Saturday afternoon Richland School District held a 'Stuff the Bus' fundraiser. Community members stopped by with donations like toys, clothes, food and even blankets and were placed into the seats of the school bus.

Robert Garza, the Executive Director Community and Schools in our area told us the donations help kids and families who are needy. He said, "it brings a sense of community to these families who so often feel so alone, being together really signifies with great people coming together for a great cause is when great things happen".

Monti Franckowiak is the President of the Parent Educators Association and helped organize the event and was overwhelmed with joy to see the bus filling up quickly. She told us, "this is what we're supposed to do, you know, you help yourself with one hand and the other hand is there to help someone else".

Already looking forward to next year's event and both Garza and Franckowiak told us they want to include other school districts and make it a friendly competition with additional buses.
