Yakima City Council Members Attend Their Last Meeting

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA.- Combined, they've gone to almost a thousand Yakima City Council meetings. Now, it's time to say goodbye to council members Micah Cawley, Rick Ensey, Dave Ettl, and Tom Dittmar.

The new Yakima City Council members will be seated come January, but Tuesday at City Hall a special reception was held to thank the members who will be leaving their positions on City Council.

Mayor Micah Cawley was first elected to the Yakima City Council in 2005, Rick Ensey in 2007, Dave Ettl in 2009, and the most recent council member is Tom Dittmar, who was elected in 2013.

At the reception Tuesday afternoon they told us they're excited to see what the new members will bring to the City of Yakima.

Councilman Dave Ettl left the new council with some parting advice, "Do your homework, work hard on behalf of the people that voted you here, and always remember that you're here as a public servant, so if you have the heart of a servant you'll do just fine," Ettl told us.

Cawley, Ensey, Ettl and Dittmar all decided not to run for re-election this year, after a judge ruled in February that the city's former council election system violated Federal law.
