Triumph Treatment Services Collecting Items to Fill Backpacks for the Homeless

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA - Triumph Treatment Services in Yakima, is collecting items for their annual winter backpacks drive.

Their goal is to put together 50 backpacks to help homeless men and women in our community, with items to help people get through the tough winter months.

These backpacks are filled with things like water bottles, toiletries, hand sanitizer and socks. Full list of items needed is HERE.

This is the 5th year Triumph Treatment Services holds the drive and Michelle Roberts, Chemical Dependency Professional at Triumph Treatment Services tells us why they do it.

"Some people don't choose to be homeless, some people end up homeless because of the choices they've made. All we can do is help support them and try to give them some of the basic essentials that we take for granted, like warm blankets, hats and scarves," said Roberts.

If you'd like to help, you have until December 18th to contribute to the backpack drive. You can stop by Triumph located at 102 S. Naches Ave. to make a donation.

Backpacks will be given out at Millennium Plaza on December 21st, at the annual Homeless Memorial Service in Yakima.
