Social Media and Surveillance Cameras Help Catch a Nativity Scene Vandal

Posted: Updated:

WALLA WALLA, WA- Monday morning Brian Fullen noticed something wrong with his nativity scene set up on his front lawn. Luckily, he has a security system made up of 16 surveillance cameras.

After checking the footage he saw around 3:30 in the morning three young men walked up to his front yard and stopped pointing and discussing what seemed to be the nativity scene that was all lit up. The three men looked directly at the cameras located on his light posts at the end of his walkway. The camera positioned towards the roof caught one of the men running across the lawn, trying to grab the entire manger but after realizing it was anchored with stakes, he took off with the sheep from the set.

Fullen posted four surveillance videos to his Facebook page and before long they had hundreds of shares. As the day continued a community member directed Fullen's attention to a young man's Facebook page where he wrote a status admitting to vandalizing the nativity scene. Jesse Forss was later taken into custody by the Walla Walla Police.

Fullen told us today, "I didn't expect it but I'm not surprised it is a very tight knit community we don't like being messed with". He said it's a moment like this that reminds him how thankful he is for his home surveillance system.

WASHINGTON: It's barely pumpkin latte season and already signs are up advertising *flu* shots! One vaccine that's been off the market for a couple years is back this year. Two years ago the nasal spray vaccine was taken off the market because the Center for Disease Control said it was no longer effective for that particular flu season. For those who tend to get a little needle frantic, the CDC now says this year's nasal spray vaccine should be effective for this year's flu strain. I...More >>
