PENDLETON, OR - The Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon, with the Chamber of Commerce and Travel Pendleton, are hosting a community reception at the Roy Raley Room on the Pendleton Round-Up grounds on Thursday, December 17th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.

The event is to honor the upcoming 100th anniversary of Happy Canyon, as well as celebrate the Round-Up’s receipt of the Large Outdoor Rodeo of the Year buckle, Remuda trophy and other awards won at this year’s National Finals Rodeo, according to the Pendleton Round-Up Association.

Expected to attend are State Senator Bill Hansell, State Representative Greg Barreto, Umatilla County Commissioners George Murdock, Larry Givens and Bill Elfering and Pendleton Mayor Phil Houk.  Light refreshments will be served.

“2015 was remarkable year of success on many fronts, and we want to celebrate,” said Pendleton Round-Up President Bill Levy. “We could not have achieved the success we enjoyed without the support of our volunteers and the community.  Participating in Rodeo Way at the NFR, the Sufjan Stevens concert ‘Round-Up,’ high school graduation in the arena, Bryson Bronson and Chinook being feature at the FEI and National Finals, the Seahawks 12 flag raising ceremony and being featured in the Charlie Daniels video about the NFR and just a few of the things which has made this a year to celebrate.”

Happy Canyon President Jason Hill echoed similar sentiments observing, “This is a great opportunity to share our accomplishments with our volunteers and friends.  As we prepare for our 100th Anniversary celebration in 2016, it allows us to share our plans with the community.”

The Large Outdoor Rodeo of the Year buckle, Remuda trophy and other awards won at this year’s National Finals Rodeo will be on display to the public as well as video highlights of the year’s events.  Attendees will also have a chance to meet members of the 2016 Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon royalty and new Round-Up and Happy Canyon Directors.
