"On any given day chances are officers are going to respond to one or more domestic violence calls," YPD Spokesperson, Mike Bastinelli said.

In fact during the 2015 year YPD officers responded to 1802 domestic violence calls. 586 of those calls were violations of restraining or no contact orders.

Briones ex-boyfriend, 26 year old Ricardo Mendoza, is currently being held at the Yakima County Jail, police say his initial charges of first degree assault will be changed to first or second degree murder charges.

Mendoza was out on bail awaiting trail for assaulting Briones back in October of 2014.

Mendoza appeared in court Tuesday morning; his bail is currently set at $500,000.
