One parent is concerned about a 4-way stop near Wilson Middle School

YAKIMA, WA - One parent is concerned about the 4-way stop at the intersection of 44th Ave. and Arlington St. The man chose to remain anonymous and goes by the alias Sonny. He said that the intersection is dangerous for both traffic and the children who go to Wilson Middle School because there are no cross-guards monitoring them.

Sonny said that he is worried for the children and upset because many other neighboring schools have cross-guards directing traffic and pedestrians. He said that he has seen one to many close calls of vehicles almost hitting children at the 4-way stop, after school is out and adds that drivers are not the only ones at fault.

"You can't get through there without almost hitting a kid," said Sonny. "Honestly the kids have no regard for traffic or safety and you will literally see cars in the middle of the street for up to 5 minutes sometimes trying to get around the corner."

Sonny said that he trusts the school district with his kids and that they should be responsible for the safety of all kids as they leave school and go home. He said that he has contacted the school and brought this issue to their attention but they told him that they are under budget and that he should to call administration.

KNDO-TV also tried reaching out to the school district for comment on this matter but we have not gotten a response yet.
