POST FALLS, Idaho - Dramatic body camera footage released on Monday shows a Post Falls Police Officer pulling a suicidal man off the ledge of an I-90 overpass just as the man was about to jump.
Officer Koontz walked up to the man on foot as traffic zipped by on I-90 at 70 mph last Friday and tried to talk to the man who was sitting on the on the ledge of the overpass at Spokane Street. After multiple failed attempts to communicate, the man climbed up onto the ledge and ignored the officer's pleas to just talk. Just as the unidentified man was about to jump, Officer Koontz was able to rush over and grab the man before he fell.
After pulling him off the ledge, the man was placed into handcuffs and the video ends with Officer Koontz asking, "What's your name, bud?"
