Attempted child luring in Walla Walla

Posted: Updated:

WALLA WALLA, WA - Walla Walla Police are warning parents and students of a man trying to lure kids in the area.

A parent reported to police that the man tried to coax her 15 daughter into his his silver mini-van Monday after school. It happened in the area of South 7th Avenue. The vehicle had no license plate on the back and was described as possibly a Dodge Caravan.

The suspect is described as a heavy set Hispanic male with an orange hat, in his early 40's. When the girl denied his offer of a ride, he followed her for a few blocks continuing to talk to her. He told her she was pretty and that he knew her dad and it was OK if he gave her a ride.

Parents are reminded to talk to their children about never accepting a ride from strangers and to call 911 immediately if it happens.
