Community takes part in fundraiser for family with two twin boys diagnosed with SMA

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA- Tuesday, March 1, community members stopped by Sunset View Elementary School to visit the pop up boutique in the parking lot in order to help donate money to a local family.

Crystal Ramos is a teacher for Kennewick Public Schools and has two twin boys who were recently diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy last summer. Her and her family are hoping to attend the national SMA Conference held in Anaheim, California. At the conference they will be able to meet other families going through the same battle and they'll also be able to educate themselves more on research efforts and the rare disease itself.

With February 29 being Rare Disease Day, the family decided to hold this fundraiser to help aware the community of this disease.

Their goal was to sell 2,000 outfits during the two hour fundraiser. For more information on how to donate to their GoFundMe account if you weren't able to make the fundraiser, click here.
