Pine tree sprouts overnight in Pasco

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, WA- Drivers stop when passing the 90 foot tree to take a closer look. At a second glance they notice it's actually not a tree, it's a cell tower disguised as a pine tree.

It took two days for Husker Towers to put the tree up, the company owner, Ed Shandera tell us they travel the nation putting up these tree cell towers, "it's just so this isn't an eye sore for people who don't like cell towers, we put up cactuses, palms there's palm trees that look like this, this is obviously a pine tree".

While in town working on the tower Shandera says, "I think pretty much the entire town of Pasco has stopped by to say hi and wanted to know what it was".

The branches are made of PVC pipe and are attached with steel rods and bolts to the 'trunk' of the tree. Shandera told us, "I like them they're a lot more work, they look nice when they're done and that sense of accomplishment means a lot to us".

In a week, AT&T will be out to connect service to the tower.
