City of Walla Walla performs water system flushing this week to clean waterlines

Posted: Updated:

WALLA WALLA, WA - This week, the City of Walla Walla is performing water system flushing, a preventative maintenance program to clean waterlines and check the operation of fire hydrants throughout the city.

Crews will be out from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. everyday through Friday March 4th.

The City of Walla Walla says this program ensures water quality stays at a very high level. If you notice changes in water pressure and discoloration in your water, here's what you should do:

"It is best to flush from an outside hose bib or a bathtub, anything without a screen or an aerator. We do have contact numbers on our website, if you do have any plugging of your your kitchen sink or anything, we'll send a crew out to help," said Adrian Sutor, Water Distribution Supervisor.

The website is gowallawalla.us. You can also find updates on the crew's location on the site.

In preparation for the flushing, City crews will be sweeping city streets to remove debris. The City says if you see the sweeper operating in your neighborhood, don't park on the street.
